Live in Gladwin County

Beautiful Gladwin County is the true “Near North” destination in the State of Michigan. Nestled between highways I-75, U.S. 127 and U.S. 10, our county is home to nearly 25,000 residents who truly enjoy the four seasons “playground” that our area is known for.

Gladwin County has long been called the “Thermoforming Capital of the World”. Many local, national and international manufacturers, retailers and service-related business have thrived in our community and offer great opportunities for employment.

Located less than 3 hours away from most major Michigan metropolitan communities, visitors are attracted to the thousands of acres of state land, over 50 lakes and hundreds of miles of streams and rivers found in our county. Wildlife abounds and hunting and fishing are a way of life. Boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, ORV adventures and nature watching are enjoyed daily through our abundant natural resources.

Agriculture is an integral part of Gladwin County. Crop farming, cattle-raising, timber management and farm markets are evident as one tours the area. The Amish community is interwoven throughout our rural areas and offer their home-baked goods and hand-crafted wares at several locations.

Shopping at our antique stores, gift shops and retail outlets is an enjoyable way to spend a day. One can also relax and enjoy the pampering at one of our many salons and spas. First-class lodging is available at the end of a satisfying day!

Our award-winning K-12 school systems, premier medical facilities, the incredible sports complexes available to the young and old alike, and the enjoyment of several yearly community events give cause to call Gladwin County “home”.

We invite you to come and see why Gladwin County is truly a great place to live, work, play and prosper! If you would like more information about all that our county has to offer, please contact us at rbalzer@michworks4u.org.
